A renewed conversation about the relative costs and liabilities associated with different forest practice and fire management techniques is welcome. However, after working in wildfire management for 33 years, I am aware of no easy or cheap solutions to complex and costly problems posed in this area. The topic just does not lend itself to bumper sticker mentality.
